A glamorous, ancient, spacious Villa, the origins of which date back to the XVth century,restored completely in the XIXth century and renovated in 2000.
LA CONSUMA is located in the hilltop village of San Giovanni d’Asso; over the centuries, it has been owned, among others, by the bishop of Pienza and other members of the noble Siennese families,the actual family owns the house since the beginning of 1900.
It is situated opposite the castle and has a large, sunny terrace and a wide garden, with a private swimming-pool, overlooking the spectacular Tuscan countryside.
San Giovanni D’Asso is a charming little village which lies in the heart of the Crete Senese, the unique and spectacular countryside to the south of Siena. Villa La Consuma is equally unique and provides the visitor with the perfect blend of classic Tuscan style, fabulous views.
Located in the heart of San Giovanni D'asso the facade of the house gives little impression of what lies behind. The accommodation is spread over several levels and is all centred upon the lovely garden. Entry is into a reception room from where stairs lead up to the first floor and down to one of the two doors to the garden.
The whole house has been restored with great style and sympathy.
Whilst much of the furniture is antique, comfort has not been sacrificed.
Garden
The garden is amazingly private, considering the house is in the middle of the village.
The terrace overlooks the garden and pool and views beyond; from here steps lead down to the Italian garden, complete with lemon trees and pond.
The wonderful pool (12 x 6 m – 1.5 – 2.5m deep) is fully equipped with sun loungers and there is a separate bathroom next to it, cleverly placed in the original laundry room.
There is also a fridge here (so you don’t have too far to go for a cool drink). Pool towels are provided.
Bordering on the garden of La Consuma, stands the smaller Villa La Capanna.
Staying at La Consuma is a real pleasure and we thoroughly recommend it for large families and groups of friends looking for a special location.
It is also possible to rent La Consuma together with La Capanna which is next door and can be linked by a garden gate.

 The spacious rooms have high ceilings, with windows overlooking the valley and the castle.
The villa comprises a large entrance hall, from which you enter the formal XIX th century garden, two sitting-rooms, two dining-rooms, one of them with fireplace,the other leads out onto a large sunny terrace, with two dining tables, two umbrellas and some chairs.
A fully equipped kitchen with all domestic appliances and cooking utensils ( fridge-freezer, dish washer, washing machine, gas hob and fan- assisted oven).
Five spacious bathrooms, plus 1 ensuite bathroom to the single room (5 with shower stall,one with a half bathtube).
Eight bedrooms are spread out on two levels:
four double bedrooms,
three twin bedded rooms (in two of them the beds can be joined),one single room for a total of 15 sleeps
 The Villa is elegantly furnished, with antique furniture throughout.
A daily maid cleaning service is provided and all bed linen and towels (also for the swimming pool) are included.
The 6x 12 meters swimming pool, maintained daily by the gardener, is located on a terrace, next to a large changing room.
This was originally the laundry room, and contains a toilet and a fridge-freezer, suitable for poolside drinks and snacks.
By closing a door La Consuma can fit to a smaller party (8 people);2 twin bedrooms,2 double bedrooms & 4 bathrooms.
Bordering on the garden of La Consuma, stands the smaller Villa La Capanna (6 sleeps)

Rental Conditions

Location
The Villa is located in the middle of the small village of San Giovanni d’Asso,just opposite the castle . The romantic village is interesting for the ancient, beautiful castle, the Truffle Museum (in November here takes place the White Truffle Festival), the Romanesque church of San Pietro in Villore (XIth century) with its cripta, Il Bosco della Ragnaia.
On Wednesday morning there is an open market along the main street.
San Giovanni d’Asso is located in the CRETE SENESI ,the beautiful countryside to the south of Siena ;in half an hour driving you can reach many famous and interesting spots:Montalcino (Brunello wine), Pienza, Bagno Vignoni (spa), the Abbey of Sant’Antimo .

A trip to remember.The Tuscan valley has to be one of the most beautiful places on the Planet.The stay at this villa has been a pleasant experience.Guiliano is a good man who made the stay as smooth as possible.Found the people to be friendly and helpful.Certainly will rave about the villa and the grounds.Could use a microwave,though.Other than that,a great experience.
